PBMC processing and laboratory services

Reliable sample processing, cryopreservation and management for clinical studies

Crux Biolabs provides specialised processing services for isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMCs) and nucleic acids. Our experienced team applies controlled workflows to help protect sample integrity and generate material suitable for downstream cellular, molecular and biomarker analysis.

Supporting sample quality from processing to analysis

High-quality downstream data begins with consistent sample handling. Crux Biolabs supports clinical studies with documented processing, cryopreservation, storage and sample-management workflows designed to preserve cellular viability, nucleic-acid quality and full sample traceability.

Services are delivered within Crux Biolabs’ ISO/IEC 17025-accredited, GCLP-compliant quality management system, where applicable. Controlled procedures, documented workflows and quality review support traceable, reliable sample-processing outcomes for clinical research.

We work with sponsors to align processing requirements with the study protocol, sample type, downstream assay and operational needs. Our services can support PBMC and BMMC processing, plasma and serum separation, nucleic-acid extraction, controlled storage and shipment of processed samples.

Our laboratory services

PBMC processing and cryopreservation

Crux Biolabs provides PBMC isolation, processing, cryopreservation and storage to support immunological and cellular analysis. We use established methods including density-gradient centrifugation, SepMate™, LeucoSep™ and Cell Preparation Tubes (CPT™), selected according to the sample type and study requirements.

Cell count and viability assessment can be performed before and after cryopreservation to provide visibility of sample quality. Processed PBMCs can support downstream immune profiling, spectral flow cytometry and functional cellular assays.

BMMC processing and cryopreservation

We provide fit-for-purpose processing of bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMCs), with workflows designed to preserve viability and maximise cell yield. Samples may be prepared for immediate downstream analysis or cryopreserved for controlled long-term storage.

Our team works with study-specific requirements to support haematology, immunology and immuno-oncology clinical studies.

Nucleic-acid extraction

Crux Biolabs extracts DNA and RNA from appropriate clinical-study sample matrices for downstream molecular analysis. We assess nucleic-acid purity and yield to confirm suitability for applications including PCR, sequencing and gene-expression analysis.

Plasma and serum separation

Crux Biolabs provides controlled plasma and serum separation from whole-blood samples to support clinical bioanalysis and biomarker studies. Processing workflows can be aligned with study-specific requirements for collection tubes, centrifugation conditions, aliquoting, storage and shipment.

Controlled sample management and storage

Crux Biolabs provides the laboratory controls needed to manage processed study materials with confidence. From sample receipt through processing, storage, retrieval and nominated destinations, electronic systems support traceability and documented chain of custody.

Our capabilities include secure liquid-nitrogen cryostorage for cellular materials, controlled sample inventory management, and pre- and post-cryopreservation cell count and viability data. These services help sponsors maintain visibility of sample status and support reliable downstream bioanalysis.

Built for consistent multi-site studies

Crux Biolabs combines specialist scientific oversight with controlled laboratory processes to deliver fit-for-purpose sample-processing workflows. We collaborate with sponsors to establish procedures aligned to study objectives, sample type and intended downstream analysis.

Our PBMC workflows are recognised through the Immunovirology Research Network Quality Assurance Program. Nucleic-acid extraction methods are supported by ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and participation in the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia Quality Assurance Program, where applicable.

We can support multi-site clinical studies through standard operating procedure harmonisation and external site training, helping promote consistent sample collection and processing practices across participating sites.
